Surprising Week!

Hi Everyone!

So I’m currently on the train back from London after an audition and thought I’d give you an overview of my week which has been very surreal! I mean I’m currently so annoyed that I had to pay £62.00 for the pleasure of changing my train ticket to an earlier train so cheers for that Virgin East Coast.

Anyway back to my week, On Tuesday at college, we were having auditions for our end of year show which is Soho Cinders! We have been working on it for a few weeks now so we were all familiar with the script and songs but we just needed it casted so we could crack on with getting the show blocked and ready for June. The part that was my first choice in auditioning for was The Narrator and this character basically tells the story of the show and starts quite a few of the scenes which is pretty exciting! I had t prepare the opening monologue and during our rehearsals I had been filling in for the Narrator so by the time the auditions swung by I knew it off script. I was second off last to audition and we were told the cast list practically 2 minutes after the final audition. When our Director read the cast list out and I was The Narrator, I kind of froze! I was completely shook and didn’t know how to react to it! For the next few days I was still overwhelmed and hadn’t processed it all! I mean it has processed now and I have started learning my lines. I am so excited that I have finally been cast in a show and even more happy that its our big final show that I got a lead part in!
As well as being the Narrator I am part of the Costume Team which I am also so excited about because my second favourite role after being an Actor is being part of a Wardrobe Department! This means I have to work closely with the Director and Alex (other member of costume team) to ensure we look good on stage! All I can say is role on June!

Then on Thursday I got my final grade back from our Acting Teacher who taught us Contemporary Theatre. I was convinced that my last assessment, which was performing extracts from a play, had gone pretty bad and that the grade I would get would bring my entire grade down (because thats how BTEC’s work which is so bloody stupid) and it turns out that I got a Distinction. My jaw hit the ground when he told me! That meant I got a Distinction for our Waiting for Godot Assessment, Waiting for Godot Essay and Wethouse Assessment. I was the only one in the class to get a triple Distinction and it was certainly one of my proudest moments and that I shouldn’t doubt my acting ability all the time!

So yeah its been a pretty positive week and I have been completely shook for most of it but more weeks like this would be more than welcome!

Hope you’re all doing well and basking in the sunshine that is making an appearance in England today!
